in links,update

I’ve been a little MIA lately. I’ve been working 3 nights a week, and it has been a busy few days. Loving the new job by the way, and big bonus it comes with a free gym membership! I haven’t used it yet, since I’m STILL trying to get over my cold. :(

On Monday we completed our refinance for our mortgage. Our rate dropped 1.675%! We’re fixed at 5% for 30 years. With the refi we got to miss 2 mortgage payments, which are going to closing costs (some of which will be reimbursed when our old escrow account closes), and savings.

I just read a very interesting blog post that suggested saving your money before you pay off a debt. FrugalDad calls it the Recession-Proof Debt Snowball I like the idea of having a large emergency fund. If there’s something the last week taught me, it was that I feel more confident having a nice cushion in the checking along with savings in the quadruple digits.

We have completed our goal of paying off and closing credit card #1! We called and closed one of our Chase cards this evening! That felt wonderful. I need to go give the hubby a high five.

I have also completed my goal of reducing every monthly bill, and examining ALL of our regular spending. The savings are huge, I can’t wait to sit down and figure out how much we are saving over the course of a year. I’ll be sure to create a post about what we did and how we (well I) did it.

Free Money Finance posted a list of things we overpay for. Most don’t apply for me, but it’s still a great list. :)

You can get a free Kashi entree by going here.

Puppy planning is in full swing. We are looking at crates for crate-training, leashes, food, etc. It’s a lot to research, thankfully the hubby is on it.
