We had an unfortunate accident Friday night with the hubby’s car. The rear windshield shattered when the hubby closed it. Apparently it is common for it to happen at this time of year (according to the Safelite rep we talked to).
We’re hoping the insurance will cover it, but if not we’ll have to fork over the $300+ to get it fixed.
The bad news is the hubby was going to get up super early today for a business trip, and in order to maintain my sanity (and sleep) had offered to drive his car and park it at the airport (off-site where they offer a shuttle and it is less expensive). Since the glass shops don’t have the piece of glass we need in stock we have to wait ’til Monday which means I got to drive the hubby to the airport with the kids at 5am. Fun! We considered a shuttle, but after calling several companies (and a past experience) we decided this was the best/safest/cheapest option.
Along with that we have tons of stuff to do to get him ready, and get ourselves ready for 2 birthday parties this weekend, so I’m posting my now usual around the web edition of links and articles I enjoyed reading this week.
An older article at Fly Away Family caught my eye. We won’t be traveling with little ones anytime soon, but for those of you who do MB offers 10 tips must-haves on a flight with kids.
Kaboom is a playspace/park finder that can be used wherever you are or are headed. I could see this coming in very handy if you are planning a road trip or vacation. It’s always good to have places the kids can stop and run off a little steam! They are a non-profit that helps communities build playgrounds. I’ll be sure to add photos and reviews of our local parks this Spring.
Jennifer Resse’s article entitled “Scratch That,” has been linked to widely on the web. She experimented with homemade versions of 6 items. She found that the quality of her homemade goods was much better than store bought products, and 3 of the 6 were also significantly cheaper! Read it if only for the amazing bagel recipe. (I have yet to try it, but it’s on my list after work is through)
With the recent news about swine flu I found this URL shortener to be a fun way to lighten the mood. You can bac’n any link here.
Jim at Bargaineering posted a link to AMEX’s free Experian score. I was psyched to see this since we are AMEX customers. For other ideas on how to get your Experian score for free check out Jim’s post.
Trent at The Simple Dollar offers ideas for a Rainy Day box, perfect for a weekend like we’re having here! Bonus points for mnetioning one of our favorite kid’s music that adults can tolerate CD: Here Come the ABCs [CD/DVD Combo]
Have a great weekend! See you again on Monday.
