The key to success is surrounding yourself with the right kind of people. This is true for any area you are focused on in your life. If you’re an entrepreneur  having friends and acquaintances who own or aspire to own their own businesses is a huge boon. Losing weight and getting fit a goal? Spend more time at the gym, join a running club, or participate in an online forum like Daily Burn.

With personal finance, we have it easy. We have websites, forums, magazines, columnists, and blogs we can turn to even if our friend’s idea of cutting back means  forgoing cosmetic surgery.

Whenever I’m feeling like I need to connect with someone who has a passion for personal finance I turn to podcasts. I can listen to them while I work, while I play with the kids, while I clean, and it puts me back in the right frame of mind.

2 of my favorite podcasts are:

The Personal Finance Hour

The Consumerism Commentary Podcast

I especially want to highlight the most recent episode of The Consumerism Commentary Podcast. Flexo and Tom (sorry I called you Smithee in an earlier draft, Tom!) interviewed Penelope Trunk of The Brazen Careerist, and Leo Babauta of Zen Habits. (both blogs you should already be reading) It’s 38 minutes or so, you can listen while you walk your dog, or get your obligatory 30 minute run in on the gym treadmill (including strecthing time, which you know you should do but never do).

Listening to stories about people who paid off a ton of debt is inspiring, and keeps me on track. What about you? What keeps you on track with your goals?
