Resturant.com Gift Certificates 90% off!

What's for dinner?

Restaurant.com is having a blow out sale on their gift certificates through 9/13. Enter code NINETY to get 90% off gift certificates.

Most are priced at $10 with a $25 face value. 90% off $10 is $1!!!!

There must be a catch, right?

Of course there is! Most restaurants have restrictions and require you to have a total bill of $35-$50 to use a $25 gift certificate. Some have certain days of the week, or holidays as days they will not accept the gift certificates. Others require a party of 2 or 4.

Even with the restrictions it’s still a fantastic deal. I paid $7.50 for $175 in gift certificates.

If I spend only $35 that would be equal to $11 for a $35 meal! A great deal especially if it means I don’t have to do dishes!

You can search for restaurants countrywide, so if you know you will have an upcoming trip (the certificates are good for one year), you can check for restaurants that participate in that area as well.

My favorite part of the whole thing? The gift certificates state in BOLD letters:  “TIP YOUR SERVER ON THE FULL VALUE OF THE GUEST CHECK

As a former waitress, I appreciate that very, very much. I still haven’t gotten over the time one family and their friends made many special requests, left a huge mess and $1.22 on a $80 bill.

I can’t get through to them by phone, and they don’t respond to e-mail. But they haven’t charged the card yet so I guess it’s okay. I don’t want to re-order anything, though, in case they do so I just may be out of luck.

Sheila, I contacted restaurant.com and they are happy to help you.
I just need your contact info, since the email address you entered is sending a delivery failure message.

Okay, still no restaurant.com certificates or order confirmation e-mail. WTH? Will try calling today and see what’s going on.

Hhmm, the 24 hours is up, and I still haven’t received any certificates by e-mail. Now I’m getting a bit nervous–they have my credit card information, and I have nothing. I’m going to make another call and see what’s up.

So, what restaurants did you buy gift certificates for? Inquiring minds want to know!

I got gift certificates to 3 local restaurants: The Olive Tree, Pace One, and the Gables in Chadds Ford. I was bummed they were out of Brickside gift certificates.

If only the selection were a little better in my area, I would jump at this chance, that’s quite a savings.

Okay, I got a $25 gift certificate for $1. The little video indicates that you can print out your gift certificate, but that\’s not correct. I ended up calling the toll free number, and the certificate is e-mailed to you within 24 hours. While I don\’t really care, I was annoyed that nothing mentioned that so I had to waste time calling. Hopefully the restaurant is good–it’s one I’ve never tried before. The ones I really wanted were all out of stock, darn it.

Sheila, that’s odd. I was able to print mine out. Must have been a glitch or something. Glad you worked it out.

Paul, I picked a few places we haven’t been since like Sheila the places we really liked were out of stock. I wonder if you could tell your favorite local restaurant about the website and encourage them to sign up?
