One thing that changed for me this past years is that I really started saving for the down payment on a house, with a parallel goal to pay cash for a new car – it’s hard! But I’m proud of it.

In the past year I changed jobs, tanking my career with this company, but regaining my identity. I moved 3 times, and have made a commitment to public transit. I've had a lot of changes in my life this year, and while most of them were not easy, they've all been for the best. :) I'm only commenting/posting on your contest post because I think it's a great thing for you to donate to the Red Cross based on post comments. (Although I wouldn't mind winning a prize! *laugh*) I have realized this year how absolutely lucky I am to be digging my way out of debt. Because a) I have the means and the skills to do it, and b) I live in a country that is well-developed enough to allow me to be a consumer–even if it IS of stuff I didn't really need. I am very fortunate.

My 65 year old dad has been laid off for 2 years, so now I have to pick up the slack as the eldest child(28years old) so 1/3 of my pay goes to keeping his house from getting foreclosed, he's screwed up my family's life (mom, brother, mine, future grandchildren) He's been refusing to spend less, so I just took over, forced him to go into bankruptcy because he's been racking a ton of debt on credit cards. Seriously who puts mortgage payments, car payments on credit cards and then take cash advances? He has nothing to show for it. Now my family has to suffer. My mom had to cash out her 401k to pay for this douchebag's mistakes.

This year, I made the decision to apply to grad school in the UK to be with the man I love. I've been in a long-distance relationship for nearly four years now, and now we're taking the steps to finally be together for good. It's a lot to think about getting everything set up, including finances, and it will be a new experience for me living overseas, but I'm so excited to take the plunge.

The one thing that has chacged in the last year for me is that people understand more where I am coming from when I say things are not in my budget. In the past people would just look at me like I should be able to afford things now because of unemployment and rising prices people seem to be more sensative.

The biggest change in the last year was the birth of our second child on 12/29. The advice of "sleep when your baby sleeps" advice from the doctor is a bit more difficult when there is a 2 year old who seems to be awake whenever the baby isn't :)

1 AM and the 2 year old is finally asleep (bad dream or something) … I should be able to grab a cat nap before the baby's 2 AM feeding :)

A new thing for me in 2010 is my marriage! I got hitched Dec. 18 and we're settling into the married life. To be honest, it's not very different from the engaged life, but I do get to say husband instead of fiance now, which sounds far less pretentious.

My hair has changed over the last year, because I cut off the sides and thinned out/layered the rest. Maintenance means that I have to cut frequently. If thy hair offends thee, cut it off! LOL. I like it a lot. I don’t even have to use hair products anymore – I used to always use gel or mousse along with spritz.

This blogging stuff is so fun, you're right. Just can't let it consume our lives!

I bought a condo in May. It was a big decision because I'm still in graduate school. However the cost is approximately the same as rent (excluding maintenance), and it's MUCH nicer than I could afford to rent…so I think I made the right decision. Plus I have a few years left in graduate school :) Maybe more than a few…

Congratulations on your blogoversary (sp?). And you’ve got presents, er presents to give away.

Happy blog anniversary! I think you should do a special giveaway for the first person who ever commented on your blog–ME!

Hhmm, one thing that's changed. . .well, I used a manufacturers coupon for shopping today. I never thought about doing that because I thought I didn't buy brand names. Turns out I occasionally do buy brand names so I clipped some coupons on Sunday and used one today when I saw a salad dressing my husband uses that was on sale.

Congratualtions Centsible Life, the first one is a big one! What has changed in my life this yeat? What hasn't?! This last year I sold my house and 90% of my posessions and moved away from my home for the last 31 years to a small town in western Virginia to caretake a small farm property. I don't know what comes next but I'm on my way. Life's a real adventure!

The only thing that has changed for me in the past year is the tiny little leak in the roof of my newly purchased house. It is not anything major, but it made an ugly spot on the ceiling that has to be repaired. That means new drywall. I am saving up for it to be done in the spring. it is an expense, I don;t want to put on a credit card.

It there's no water damage or mold try spraying bleach on the ceiling. Gets rid of the spot and no hassle of replacing drywall.
