Ziploc, our sponsor for Fill the Backpack, is celebrating Magnificent Moments of Mom, recognition that all moms are magnificent. Ziploc offers a wide range of products to help savvy moms stay organized, so we can focus on what is really important-our families! I don’t know about you, but I use Ziploc every day to make lunches, store healthy snacks, and help stay organized.

When you think of a magnificent mom do you see yourself? Me, I imagine a supermom. You know perfect hair, no stains on her fashionable clothes, and well behaved kids. She of course is also friendly, helpful, and super organized to boot. No one is really supermom, though we may think that looking in from the outside, but we all have moments where we are magnificent, and really go above and beyond. It’s those moments we want to celebrate!

When I think of my own magnificent moments, or times my mom was magnificent I think of laughter shared, sincere talks, hands held, and hugs. In my magnificent moments I can not keep the smile off my face, and those moments are etched in my mind and heart forever.

One of my Maginificent Moments-sending the girls off to their first day of school this year.

I’d say I had a magnificent moment yesterday at my daughters school. I went to met with her teacher to decide what art project I would help the kids with tomorrow. All the kids were leaving the classroom to go to PE as I arrived and my daughter stopped to give me a hug and kiss. Now a hug and kiss are always great and always available but she is in 4th grade now and I rarely get a hug or kiss when I drop her off in the morning b/c theres other around. That what made this magnificent, she wanted to give me a kiss infront of her 31 other classmates. Yay, I’m guess I’m still okay this year.

Deciding to be a full time stay at home mom through our daughters 1st 4 1/2 years. Now im working part time, and only while she is in PreK. If she is off for break, I found a wonderful job that I can bring her with me. I know this isnt for every family, but I am proud that we went from a 2 job childless couple spending freely to becoming a sahm and we did it with finesse.

My magnificent mom moment was holding back my tears when I dropped my son off for his first day of kindergarten. I didn’t want him to see my cry because I knew he’d be scared and wouldn’t want to go.

A memory I have of my mom is when she did everything she could to keep us in our middle school. We had moved around so much until then and she couldn’t bear dragging us out of another school. Being a single mom it was hard but she made it all work out. I’ll never forget everything she did for us.

I loved my Mom sooooo much! She’s greatly missed since she’s now in heaven. The greatest things she taught me was to love God & family. I now have 4 boys and every day I try to instill the same values and morals in my children.

My moment was just the other night. My five-year-old daughter was lying still in bed asleep. I looked over at her and could see the pumping of her heart. I placed my hand gently over it, closed my eyes, and was transported to a time when I was so excited to hear that little heartbeat over a Doppler in my midwife’s office. I am so grateful for her.

A Magnificent Mom Moment that I have had as a mom has been watching my son succeed in school and Cub Scouts. Those moments of achievements that he has accomplished have been such a blessing to me. And I know as a mom, I must have played a bit of a part in all of it. : )

I have a special needs child, and when his needs were not being met in school, I just decided that I would teach him myself. I spend hour researching material and methods, so that when one doesn’t work, I have a backup ready to go!

My magnificent memory is not of my biological mother, but of my grandmother the woman who basically raised me.

My grandmother was the only person in my life who didn’t bother me with constant questions about whether or not I had a boyfriend, when I was going to get married, and/or when I was going to have kids. And one day I asked her, why she never questioned me about not having a boyfriend, whether or not I was dating, and so forth. Her response, “having a man in your life doesn’t mean that you are happy. I KNOW you are happy. You have things you want to do with your life…”

My value to her was my happiness and my happiness wasn’t dependent on whether or not I had a partner as many others may think. She gave me the strength to believe in myself, to value myself and the things I was doing in my life. She was a very special woman.
