Monday is the new Saturday:Mom Monday

in Mom Monday

Today is Mom Monday, a day when I talk about my life as a mom. The Centsible Life is a blog about money & motherhood so it’s only fitting that I share my thoughts on mothering.

Monday is a day that gets a lot of credit as being the worst day of the week. ‘Monday blues,’ or ‘having a case of the Mondays,’ are just a few of the terms that are thrown around. I’ll tell you a secret though. I love Mondays.

Mondays are the start of the school week (my work week usually starts Sunday evening), and once the kids are out the door at 8:30AM sharp I can breathe a big, deep breath and focus again. My house is suddenly quiet, empty, and I’m alone.

Saturday is the day of the week most people look forward to but our weekends are usually filled with errands, activities, and the occasional birthday party. Not to mention the laundry, home improvement projects, and weekend homework assignments. Phew.

I unplug completely or fairly heavily most of the weekend as well, which means by Monday I’m fidgeting like the internet addict I am. On Monday I’m itching to write, read, tweet, and work.

Maybe this makes me seem like I don’t like spending time together as a family, but that’s far from the case. I just know my own limits. There’s a reason I prefer working online, I am not a big fan of constant interaction, socialization, and noise. It wears me out. So while I adore my kids and husband, it’s nice to have some quiet to get work done, and enjoy a cup of coffee without having to jump up 10 times to help someone rightnow.

Happy Monday!

Do you hate on Mondays, or are you a fan?

I used to look forward to Mondays much more.  My new teaching assignment is testing my will, energy and focus.

Mondays are definitely not my favorite day of the week either.  It is a start to a new week.  But hey, as a mom I bet you take any free day you can get!  That Starbucks looks amazing too–I know it keeps me sane.

I love that about Mondays too! It is always better with a Starbucks in hand too. :)

Oh, my, you described me to a T! I love my kids and my husband, and I’m an introvert. I generally look forward to Mondays because it’s just me and the 3 year old at home during the day. He’s fine playing by himself when I’m working, and just as happy doing stuff with me.

I’ve had kids at home for 15 years, well most of 15 years since I did work full time for the 1st few years of my oldest son’s life. I’m at a point where I want do pursue my own passions, and I’m very keenly aware of how they affect the rest of the family. I feel less guilty when I’m writing on Monday and it’s just me and the 3 year old.
