I recently discovered that tall sizes suit me better than regular length clothes. I don’t know why it took me so long to try a tall size but I’m so glad I did. At 5 feet 9 inches I’m not super tall, but I am tall enough that some clothes don’t fit exactly right.
Most shirts for instance tend to be slightly too short so if I lift my hands above my head my stomach shows. Not exactly the look I’m going for after four kids.
Pants are also an issue because while they fit in length the rise is often ridiculously low, and forget low rise jeans I just can’t wear them at all.
Now I’ll be shopping for dresses, skirts, and shirts in size tall. They are a great fit for me, and are definitely more flattering than a typical length.
Just like petities sizes have become more prevalent at retailers, you can now find tall sizes at a lot of popular retailers including Gap, Banana Republic, Nordstrom, and more.
Here are some of my favorite selections.
I adore this dress. Chic, simple, and gorgeous color.
Another chic and simple winner. Ruffles are always a good thing.
This skirt is literally polished. Perfect for a conference or speaking engagement.
This simple top is perfect for everyday-blogging, carpooling, and chasing after the kids while still looking put together.
I love 3/4 sleeve tops. They are great for springtime, and I love that I can get my hands dirty without getting my sleeves messy.
I’ve been trying to find a blazer that fits right, and I think this one fits the bill perfectly. Easy to dress up or down depending on the rest of your look.
I desperately need some great pants. These are dressy without being stuffy.
I just love this shirtdress for a casual, beachy look.
I’m all about the high waist since it helps disguise one of my ‘problem’ areas. and the pants are just so gorgeous.
