I know, I know. It’s been 2013 for more than a week already, but I’m only really getting into the swing of things this week. While I’m not a huge fan of broad resolutions, I do try to focus on a few key changes that are actionable and practical. I use a phrase or word to help guide me each year. Last year’s resolutions were BIG, but looking back at 2012 I feel like I met my goals and then some! (you can take a look back here)
This year I’m focusing on a single word in all the ‘categories’ of my life: Create.
FAMILY & FRIENDS
Create new family traditions: I aim to focus on our current traditions and add a few new ones to the mix. I want our home and family to feel like a warm hug. A safe space for the kids, and for my husband and I. I know it won’t always be perfect, but I plan to keep finding ways to make our time together special.
Create time for friendships: Sometimes I get so caught up in family stuff that I forget to take time to be with friends. This year has taught me more than ever how important those friendships can be. Facebook ‘likes’ don’t count. I need to make time for face time with friends more often. I may need to cut some things out to make time for friends, but it’s worth it!
Create more savings: I just want to keep feeding our savings and watching it grow little by little. $10 here or there may not seem like a lot but it adds up and fast!
Create new ways to be frugal: Embracing our frugality is a great way for us to continue to pay off debt and save more. Finding ways to save even more (especially in big ways) is tops on the list this year.
Create more: I need more space and time to get creative. Whether it’s planning a garden, creating some crafts, or organizing our home I need to engage that part of myself more in 2013.
Create more health: I need to be healthy to keep up with my crazy schedule and equally crazy kids.
Create meals: While we did well with meal planning in 2012 I plan to kick it up a notch in 2013. I want cooking to be fun more often. Meal planning eliminates the stress of figuring out what to eat, but I want to add more fun and creativity to our menus.
Create more opportunities: In 2013 I aim to find more ways to give back to the social media and blogging community more. Whether it’s through my work at Splash Creative Media or taking the time to chat with people who have questions, I want to focus on this in a big way in 2013.
Create more: More content, more new endeavors, just MORE! I love what I do, and want to expand on it even further in 2013.
