Spoiled by FiOS

This is a love letter to Verizon FiOS. Yes, a love letter to a company we pay monthly. For the first time I feel like it’s not only worth the money, but that I’m getting a bargain with our package and the amazing experience we’ve had using FiOS.
We had FiOS installed as soon as we found out it was finally available at our house, and we haven’t regretted it once! Working from home and having a digital family means we are online, watching TV, and using the phone constantly so we rely heavily on our home network. We feel spoiled by the speed, the quality of our signal, and the ease of using Verizon’s interfaces, the Verizon app, and service.
FiOS
None of the above (borrowed from the Verizon site) is a surprise to me since we’ve experienced all this first-hand. From the smooth installation process, the reliable signal and quality of our internet and cable, and the speed have all spoiled us.
Here’s more about our first-hand experience with FiOS.
FiOS is fast. There’s no denying it’s faster than that other cable company, and after several months of using FiOS for work and play I feel spoiled. No more internet outages. Streaming all over the house isn’t an issue.
We can have a Minecraft player in one room, streaming the FiOS app on our iPad in another while streaming a movie over our TV while we browse the ‘net. The best part none of them slow down our signal so we can have it all, all at once.

FiOS internet speed is ranked the fastest in the nation by PCMag.
FiOS is reliable. We’ve had FiOS for the last several months and we’ve not once had an issue with our signal. No matter the crazy weather fluctuations (which always caused issues with our previous provider) for months we haven’t had an issue. The signal strength is great, and the TV signal is awesome.
FiOS has great customer service. We have had great customer service since the install of our FiOS line and continue to experience awesome customer service anytime we have a question. The best part is not needing customer service though!

We’re in the market for new internet service. Our internet/cable/phone bundle with another company just went up by almost $100. I want to reduce our cable services but maintain our level of internet, but this company won’t let us do that. When you reduce your cable, they give you lower internet quality. I work from home too and my husband is always online with his job at home, so we need good internet quality. But we only watch a few cable shows, so I want to dump that expense.

It’s definitely a great way to save to cut back on the cable, but sometimes the ‘bundle’ packages make financial sense. We have had success calling to ‘cancel’ service as well as getting the ‘bundle’ pricing without the contract.

I have been a Verizon customer for a long time. I mostly love it except for 2 things. We sometimes get poor reception with HD channels and our friends who have similar problems were all told it’s because they need faster Internet. I’m disappointed because Internet shouldn’t affect TV, you know? If there’s a separate service charge it should be quality.
And they don’t tell you how much service calls are, they just add to the bill ( I can’t compare to other services since we’ve had Verizon for over 10 years).

Interesting. We’ve not encountered that issue with HD, but it’s something to keep in mind.

We’ve had success with asking our past company to remove charges, it’s definitely worth a phone call to try.
