I’m finally home after 6 days traveling to and from San Diego for BlogHer (oh, how I miss your weather San Diego) and then a week long ‘vacation’ at the beach with my parents’ house. I use vacation loosely since I was working (as much as I could with my brain half fried and 4 kids wanting to play, and go and swim).
We did manage to squeeze in some summer fun, though, and the kids had a blast with their grandparents (tummy aches from too much ice cream notwithstanding). We may have spent around $100 to win 3 Angry Birds at FunLand, but it was totally worth it. Though I still want those giant pigs and birds from the ring toss game (see below) which no one was able to beat.
(Places we visited included: Lewes Farmer’s Market, FunLand, Sea Shell Shop (say that 10 times fast!), and the super fun Pirates of Lewes Expedition (bring towels).)
Yesterday our vacation ended with a memorial service for my grandmother at Arlington Cemetery. I still miss her (you can read about her here), but it was nice to be able to say goodbye to her with my family, and it reminded me again how precious life can be. So for now, I’m holding onto the last few days of summer and sunshine before all 4 kids head off to school at the end of the month.
