Finding the perfect pair of jeans can be nearly impossible. You may try on dozens of pairs in different styles before you can find the perfect fit. Even then the fit may change as you wear them. We’ve all experienced that perfect pair turning into the pair you’re constantly hiking up.
Earlier this week I attended Lee’s first Style Party hosted by Melissa from All Things Chic, and Whitney from Mommies with Style. Lee sent dozens of jeans for everyone to try on, and two of their team to help us find the perfect style.
The event was a great way to catch up with some blogging friends, talk to the Lee brand reps, and meet new friends too. With snacks, wine, and Leetinis we learned about how Lee has changed their line of jeans to be more fashion forward. Gone are the days of the mom jean-they have all kinds of cuts and a premium denim line too.
How to Find Your Perfect Fit Jeans
It all starts with your body shape. As the Lee rep said, women hate to be classified, but these tips will making shopping for your perfect pair so much easier.
This handout was life-changing. I swear I’m going to keep it on my phone for shopping, and know you will find the info so handy too.
In case you can’t read it, there are 4 main shapes: Boyish, Hour Glass, Pear, Apple.
Boyish: This figure should look for jeans that add a curvy feminine shape. Look for low to mid-rise, handsanding & whiskers at thighs, decorated or flap back pockets, in bootcuts or skinny.
Hour Glass: Hour glass figures should use pear or apple recommendations. If thighs are bigger than hips, follow pear shape. If shape starts to round out below the smallest part of waist, follow apple shape.
Pear: Look for slight curve at top of jean. Look for mid-rise, pocket detail, high stretch, clean/dark denim, in straight or bootcut.
Apple: Look for plenty of room in the waist and less fabric in thighs and legs. Look for hidden waistbands, longer rise, stretch fabric, dark washes, in slimmer cuts like straight or skinny jeans.
Finding My Perfect Fit
I ended up with Perfect Fit Mila Bootcut jeans (retail for $43!) and love them! I wore them to New York City this week, and through walking, heat, and a long day of wearing they held up fantastically! I love that they didn’t do the ‘stretch’ that most new jeans do.
I can’t believe I’m sharing this, but here’s the rear view-all up close and personal.
And here I am from far away. See how they add shape, and contain my curves without making me look dumpy? Perfection.
Disclosure: Lee provided me with a pair of jeans, but all opinions (and embarrassing photos) are my own.
