February Goal Update/ March Goals

Well, it’s that time again. Time to review my monthly goals and set next month’s goals. <gulp>

February Goals Update

  1. Give Up Coffee: uh, not so much. This month was particularly stressful, and I just couldn’t met this goal. I am going to put this on the back burner for now, since I think I need to wait until it’s Spring.
  2. Make healthy dinners every night: I did okay in this department. I was still sick for about half the month, so we did do some takeout. I would say about 70% of our dinners were healthy and cooked. The other nights we had takeout or everyone just had something random. (yogurt, sandwiches, leftovers, etc.)
  3. Play with the kids for 40 minutes each day (10 per kid). I have been doing pretty well in this department. I found that with my girls it was nice to spend time with them together, or give them extra time on the weekend. Being sick (I know I’m a broken record!) for so long has made it slightly more difficult but I think I’m MOSTLY over it now thank goodness!

March Goals

  1. Work out 3-4 days a week: I started working at a gym, and one of the perks is a free membership. I will start working out this week. I’m really looking forward to it, the gym is beautiful, and offers some really wonderful classes like yoga and pilates (mat) included in the membership.
  2. Limit Starbucks: This was a bad habit this past month. We spent a LOT in February at the ‘Bux. I am considering preloading a card and sticking to that amount for the month.  For me it’s a big stress reliever, and I really enjoy my coffee. It’s really my only vice.
  3. Write a To-Do list each morning: I generally do this, but I need to set aside “office” time each morning for 10 minutes and check in on my calendar and my to-dos.
  4. Continue healthy dinners, and playtime with kids.

I know what an addiction Starbucks can be...I live several blocks from one and it's hard to resist. I finally caved and bought one of their esspresso machines they sell in the store. It was spendy for me at the time ($300 - $350) but it has been well worth it. I have had it for 6-8 years now and has saved me lots of $$$$. I buy the Starbucks brand beans at Costco for $8.00 and the flavor for $3.00 a bottle. This will last me for about a month
I make a double every morning before I go to work. Try it out, it's just like getting one from the store.

LOL 2 Stephanies! Love it. :)
Stephanie #1, I just read a great tip on Lifehacker about how to read through your To Do list to be more effective. I haven't done it yet, it's on my To Do! Here it is:http://moourl.com/lb9np

I am just using Google Tasks right now, but I'll check out Remember the Milk. Thanks for the suggestion!

We have more than one To Do list, usually I run one for each family member, and big event (IE birthday, vacation, etc) and one that we call the Neverending To Do List which is our list of things for fixing up the house. I figure we'll get it all done in about 20 years.
  • Are you using any program for your to-do lists, or do you do them by hand? I really love Remember the Milk for my to-do list!
  • I love to do lists! I make them quite frequently and literally list every single thing I can think of that I need to do. This helps me to not forget (it's easier to remember stuff if I've written it down, for some reason) AND it lets me cross tons of stuff off of my to do list even if I don't get some of the bigger stuff done. (:
