Every year at the beginning of December I go through the playroom with a fine tooth comb, cleaning out the toys that are broken, and those that can be donated. After 4 hours, 3 garbage bags full of toys to donate, and 4 garbage filled with trash, the playroom was spotless.
I decided to move a couple of the plastic toy storage bins into the boys’ room. I left plenty of room for all of the new toys that are inevitably on the way. However, my 2.5 year old daughter had no toy storage in her room. This meant I had to come up with something pretty quickly. We’re about to begin transitioning her room from baby to preschooler, so this is the perfect time for a new toy storage solution.
Due to major time constraints I had to find something that was fast and simple. Normally, I would love to make something from scratch, but time is limited at this time of year so I had to create something on the fly and quickly!
I bought the Enviro Elements Multi-Purpose Cabinet, and got different types of storage boxes to store the toys on the shelves of the cabinet.
I bought 3 different sized boxes:
Additionally, I got the Allen + Roth Maize Rope Market Tote. It’s a soft sided basket, that I thought would be perfect for storing her dolls. Having the handles also makes it easy for her to take it out of the cabinet.
The best part is I was able to put it together by myself in 1 hour. You only need a philips head screwdriver for putting the handles on the doors. Everything else is simply snapping the pieces into place.
When I was done my little one was so excited to have her own toy storage just like her big brothers. It fits perfectly in her room, and although the bins are empty now, we’ll be filling them any moment. The cabinet is the perfect solution to creating toy storage in a short amount of time.
Lowe’s Creative Ideas has kindly donated $100 to my charity of choice. I have asked them to send it to Larchmont Charter School – West Hollywood, the wonderful school my sons’ are attending. In order to supply a diverse socio-economic quality education for free they must collect 70% of their budgets from kind donations. I thank Lowe’s Creative ideas for helping this school continue to provide excellent education options to the public.
Have you ever created unique toy storage for your kids?
Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!
