If you aren’t following my obsessive blogging about it, or my twitter account you may not know I appeared on the Today show this morning! (video below)

We are working hard to keep our spending in check, but I was starting to feel like it was getting out of control on the weekends. So when one of my favorite personal finance bloggers/authors put a call out on for folks in need of help I jumped at the chance!

I got to speak with Jean on the phone several times over the course of the last 3 weeks. She was so helpful in coming up with a plan to help us break the bad habit of spending on the weekend. It doesn’t hurt that she is super sweet, either.

The plan was simple, and as someone who writes about getting out of debt I know this stuff, I just don’t implement it. The main thing we did was PLAN. I know it sounds boring, but it works.

Jeanne had us plan our weekend, and our spending. For instance,  when an Ikea trip coincided with dinner, we opted to eat at home, and go after dinner was through. I know it sounds simple, but as a parent I often crave the ability to just go and DO without having to plan. Parenting is all about planning, and puzzling kids out, and often sometimes I want a break.

This worked pretty well for us. We cut our spending by about half. This weekend was no exception, even with my travel. We planned, and we did really well staying in our budget.

Now that I’ve made you read ALL that, here is the video.

Without further ado, here’s me on Today!

    I had so much fun.

I only wish I had been braver about taking behind the scenes photos, and introducing myself to the stars I saw.

MoneyEnergy, blogging=sitting on my butt, TV is crazy behind the scenes. Frantic and crazy, and fun!
