In the last few days I’ve had several mentions that have led to new readers so I thought I’d take a minute and say hello. If you’ve been here awhile you might learn something new too.
Who am I? Where did this blog come from?
I’m Kelly Whalen, a busy mom of 4 (currently multitasking homework supervision and writing this between emails) who started this blog as a way to share what my successes and failures as my family took control of our finances, and we work our way out of debt.
This is me, with lots of help from a makeup artist and a fab photograph by my friend Jo-Lynne.
I never expected anyone to read this, so imagine my surprise when someone other than my Mom started reading, and more and more folks have stuck around.
Now about 3 1/2 years later my blog has evolved into my job. I work on writing pieces for the Centsible Life, freelance writing (for places like Budgetable), and social media consulting while the kids are at school, and after bedtime.
It’s become the best of both worlds-I get to stay home with the kids, do work I love, and occasionally travel to cool places. If you had told me 5 years ago where I’d be today I probably would have laughed–and then gone shopping.
But I’m glad to be here, and I’m glad you stumbled onto the blog. Want to know more?
Here’s where you should start:
