Centisble Life Roundup: NYC week

by Kelly on February 21, 2010

This week I spent 2 nearly full days in New York City. I love NY. It’s such a fast-paced, fun place to be.

I have one post up about Toy Fair, expect more this week, I have a ton of info to sort through. This video of a remote controlled Millennium Falcon though, has blown up on YouTube. Yes, the toy is awesome, but why are the At-At video, and the lightsaber video not getting any love??

Links to me:

I was 1 of 12 bloggers who weighed in on New vs.Used Cars. Surprisingly there were 12 various answers. If 12 personal finance bloggers can’t agree, I think there’s no real rules about what is right!

I posted at Consumerism Commentary this week about what to do with your tax refund, if you are getting one. We’ll be getting a few hundred dollars, which will go directly to our emergency fund.

Links I loved this week:

I don’t typically send out link love, since I’m so behind on reading lately, but I had to share these blog posts. If you are a blogger, these are MUST reads, if you aren’t it’s great insight into what it takes to be a blogger.

Loralee talks about selling yourself without being slimy, but really she is talking about having confidence in yourself, something I often find myself lacking, especially when it comes to blogging.

Megan discusses the Holy Grail of blogging: stats, and why they don’t really matter. As someone who tends to obsess think too much about stats, I found this to be extremely comforting.

What about you? What did you read or write this week that you want to share?

Veteran’s Day

by Kelly on November 11, 2009

I had a post prepared for today, I was dotting my i’s and crossing my t’s (figuratively of course), but had to take a break to go pick up my daughter from school. Then I saw this tweet:

Immediately I went to Mooshinindy’s site, and read her post “of veterans and vomit.” (Don’t worry the vomiting turned out ok, her daughter is all better now)

I clicked on the link to Ancestry.com and first searched for my Dad’s father. Under the top result , which was record of his death and burial at Arlington, I saw this.

My great grandfather’s registration card for World War 1. Wow.

Excuse me while I go lose myself over at Ancestry.com.

Thank you veterans. Happy Veteran’s Day.
