Five Favorite Travel Pieces with Cheap Sally

in fashion

Next week I’m headed to BlogHer 2011 and I’m both excited and a little shocked that it’s so soon. I have so much to do to prepare, but one thing I’ve learned is not to stress too much over my conference clothes. Since I’ve built a budget friendly wardrobe, and I’m used to budget-friendly travel clothes I don’t feel stressed like I have in years past.

Whether you’re traveling to a conference, on vacation, or a work event I wanted to share some tips to help make your travel wardrobe work in any situation.

Five Favorite Fashion Travel Pieces

1. Pack dresses-you never know when you need to dress up! I always pack at least one dress no matter where I’m going. Have little black dress? That’s perfect for travel since it can be dressed up or down with shoes, accessories and dramatic makeup (think smokey eyes).

2. Jeggings are a girl’s best friend especially for air travel. I know not everyone loves them, but choosing jeggings, capris (if they suit your body type), or leggings makes for comfortable but chic travel wear.

3. Cardigans keep you chic and warm no matter where you go. I always end up cold whether it’s the back of a car, a chilly conference room, or a breezy evening. Pack one that can go with everything like a black cardigan and something that’s a little more chic.

4. Pack your dancing shoes! You never know when you’ll need a fab pair of shoes, so pack your fave heels or wedges for cocktail evenings, or date night.

5. Flip flops are a must no matter where you go. Sometimes your feet just need a break! Pack a pair in your carry-on, and keep them in your handbag. Your feet will thank you after a long day of site seeing, tottering on heels, or the morning after a cocktail party.

Cheap Sally Dance Party Badge, I'm attending

If you’ll be at BlogHer I hope you will be attending Cheap Sally and stop by and say hello! I’m thrilled to be a Cheap Sally Ambassador for the party, and can’t wait to bust out my dancing shoes and party dresses!

What are your favorite travel clothes? Do you pack for comfort, fashion, or a mix of both?

I love your suggestions. I always base my wardrobe for a conference or business trip around black. I have a jersey black skirt, I always pack a black pair of pants, and I always bring black shoes (dressy and flats or boots depending on the season.) I basically pack several fun tops and then I can mix and match. I always bring a pair of jeans, too.

I take flip flops with me where ever I go. Wish I was headed to BlogHer too. But I’ll be there next year! Have fun.

You KNOW we totally agree about having a FABULOUS pair of shoes where ever you go! ;-)
I would also add a great scarf - they take up zero room in your bag, but can transform a tshirt and jeans into a going out outfit!

YES! I love a good scarf though I must admit I need to learn to style with them better. My 9yo is a pro-I totally need to take tips from her.

  • Girlymama

    TERRIFIC tips!!! totally agree!
I have a fantastic black dress from Athleta - you can bunch it up in your purse and it comes out unwrinkled and ready to wear. its a lifesaver!! I throw it in my carryon and I’m ready to go - even when my luggage is lost!

I SO need one of those! Sounds like the ideal travel dress.
