Cinco De Mayo: Sombrero Craft

April 29, 2015 By Tonya Staab 1 Comment

Whether you are having a fun celebration with family, or hosting a party this Cinco de Mayo, this sombrero craft makes a great project for kids and is perfect for covering food during your party, which will definitely come in handy if your celebration is outdoors.

Supplies needed:

  • Paper plates (or plastic if you have them on hand, they will be easier to wipe clean if placing over food)
  • Paper snack cups
  • Mini pom poms
  • Black ribbon, tulle or tape
  • Glue

Attach the paper cup open side down onto the paper plate using glue.

Once the glue is dry tie a black ribbon around the base of the cup.

Glue mini pom poms around the rim of the plate.

Set your paper plate sombrero aside to dry completely.

These sombrero’s are perfect to decorate your Cinco de Mayo party space, use as place settings, a craft project for kids, to cover food such as guacamole and salsa, or to attach on a string and hang as a garland.

Happy Cinco de Mayo!
