The family room remodel is going sloooooowwww. As expected the demo part of the job was pretty fast and SO fun. I like destruction. 😉
After the major deconstruction was done, we spent a day removing the exterior door from the back wall of the family room. I wish I had photos or video, but if I did it would have been a lot of me standing around while my hubby worked. And the maybe FIVE hardware store trips we took that day. That day also involved a rather ‘fancy’ plywood/foamboard solution to the exterior of the house. (a temporary fix)
Another day was spent on wiring, which I had absolutely nothing to do with since I would most likely burn down the house. My hubby and dad handled the wiring. Moving outlets, adding boxes, and adding speaker wire to the wall where our TV will someday go to live.
Since then it’s been even sloooowwweeer as life has been busy, and we’ve been tackling more tasks that take a lot of time and care like trying to figure out how to make the walls somewhat level (hello board that was sticking out TWO inches I’m looking at you!), and the mundane tasks of cleaning up debris, vacuuming, and patching all the tiny holes (and the big ones) in the concrete.
Instead of going into more boring detail here though, I would love if you would pop over to my YouTube page where I have FOUR videos updating you on our progress. For those of you in the Philly area, this was filmed last week-clearly not the gorgeous sunny day we are having today.
This is one of the videos on the insulation we installed. While pricier than its’ pink cousin this Dow SafeTouch insulation that we picked up from Lowe’s is eco-friendly, easy to install and formaldehyde-free! If you are updating your insulation I can’t recommend this product enough. No dust, no concern over fiberglass, and seriously safe enoug hthat you can touch it with your bare hands!
This week we had a few projects we hired out for, but mostly we’re taking the week off due to a busy schedule. That means we should finish this project sometime near July 2012. 😉
