Sorry for the lack of posts yesterday! I spent all day outside (in the gorgeous spring sunshine) breaking down branches and brush for our Spring Cleanup. Our township has special days each Fall and Spring where you put twigs, leaves and bundled brushes out and the pick it up and take it to a composting facility.
We get free disposal + keep it out of the landfill, and the township gets free compost material. It’s definitely a win-win.
Despite spending approx. 6 hours in the yard I barely made a dent! We have such a large yard which I love, but the amount of work we need to put into it to get it cleaned up, and how we want it to look may take years! Our main goals for this year are to clear out the brush along our future fence line, and to install the swing set. Assuming we accomplish all that we may build some raised beds, and should we save up enough funds we have other plans.
1) build a fence
2) regrade backyard and install a retaining wall
3) demolish concrete pad (under carpet right now)
4) lots and lots of planting
I think it will take about 5 years to accomplish all those goals, so this is definitely a test of my patience!
This morning I’ve spent about 2 hours researching hotels and attractionss for our upcming trip to San Francisco in June. It’s so hard to pick things from the internet. Or maybe I’m just indecisive. 😉
Time to finish up my planning!
Kelly
