To all my readers who are moms-I hope you have a Happy Mother’s Day! I hope those of you who aren’t moms are taking time to celebrate your own moms this Mother’s Day.
I woke up to smiling faces, breakfast in bed (gluten free scones-yum!), and handmade gifts from the girls. My husband and kids are always so supportive of everything I do, and today is no exception. They are giving me the day to what I choose which so far has meant a lazy morning with magazines, coffee and HGTV.
Today isn’t just a day to celebrate me being a mom though. It’s also a day I honor my own mom.
Happy Mother’s Day to my mom, who has always been not only a mom, but also a mentor in so many ways.
Mom, you taught me that I should always work hard to make my dreams come true.
You taught me the art of shopping and how to bargain hunt.
I learned that I could love what I do, since you loved your job at Avon so much.
I saw you balancing family, work, friendships, marriage and so much more with so much energy and enthusiasm for living life.
Mom, you taught me how important it is to say ‘I love you’ to my kids every day (even when they don’t want to hear it).
As a little girl I remember always wanting to know what you were doing. Whether it was learning to cook a gourmet meal, crafts, decorating the house, or how to apply makeup I learned so much from watching you live your life to the fullest.
Now you are a grandmother 8 times over (bet you didn’t see that coming!) and I have a whole new way to learn from you. I am learning how to love so many people all at once, and how big someone’s heart truly can grow as their family does.
Happy Mother’s Day mom. Thank you for being my mom.
