It’s the Holiday Saleson

January 13, 2009 By Kelly Leave a Comment

This year it seems more than other holiday I’m getting a ton of emails, mail, and coupons for SALES. I get it, the economy isn’t that great, consumer confidence is down (where’s my portion of that $700+ billion?), and people are spending less. In my not-so-humble opinion that’s a good thing. Most of us were spending more than we had on the holiday sales, and that’s really not what it’s about after all.

We have always overspent on the holidays, so I’m actually wishing Christmas would come quicker so I don’t go out and buy something that wasn’t on the list or in the budget!

I do admit I took full advantage of sales, email offers, and coupons when the sales matched something that was on my list. I used the Thanksgiving Weekend sales (no, not Black Friday, too crazy for me!) to buy a few items at Target, and coupons at Learning Express, Toys R’ Us, a sale at Duluth Trading Company, and the bookstore discount we have and saved over $100!

I think I may have purchased enough items to cover upcoming birthdays as well, but I’ll have to go through everything to see since we had a couple of items stashed away.

I’m done shopping for everyone but my nephew (Bob wants to handle that one), and my hubby.

I’m considering setting aside some money next month to take advantage of after Christmas sales. It looks like there will be some good deals, maybe I can get next year’s shopping done on December 26th!

Are you done your shopping? Did you take advantage of any holiday sales or go out on Black Friday? Will you be purchasing sale items after the holidays?
