Today is Mom Monday, a day when I talk about my life as a mom. The Centsible Life is a blog about money & motherhood so it’s only fitting that I share my thoughts on mothering.
This weekend we marked two major milestones for our littlest guy. Aidan, who is five, lost his first tooth!
He also learned how to effectively buckle his car seat (instead of taking 15 minutes like it used to). These small milestones only further mark the movement into new territory with the kids-territory where they will soon grow out of car seats, lose all their baby teeth, and begin to do scary things like driving and even <gulp> dating.
I spent so long as a mom to little people, and was very wrapped up in my role as a stay at home mom that it still surprises me sometimes how different my life is from a few years ago. I relished being at home with my kids for many years. We sacrificed a lot for us to do that, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. No matter how many times someone asked what I wanted to be when I grew up one part never changed, I always wanted to be a mom.
It’s fascinating to see women who blog in the midst of the chaos that raising small children brings. I can not imagine being as dedicated as many of them are.
In my house there are no more diapers. No more teething. No more midnight nursing sessions, or snuggles in the morning. We no longer have a high chair or a booster seat at the table, or a playpen or crib for naps and containment.
Our lives have shifted from nap schedules to school schedules, from playdates to after school activities and sports.
The passage of time is a tricky thing. I always knew I should cherish them while they were young (well, except for stinky diapers), but it’s amazing how quickly that time passed.
Have your kids hit any big milestones recently?

Mine started college last month. Talk about being happy and sad at the same time!
First broken tooth last week. 😉
