The last few days in the Philly area have been lovely in the middle of the day. Temps reaching the 60s and today it’s supposed to 75 º! While I know it’s short-lived (there are 40 and 50 degree days all next and LOTS of rain), it has me in the mood to think Spring in my wardrobe! We’re actually going on vacation this year for Spring Break to sunny Florida, so my shopping has dual purposes. I need clothes and shoes that are comfortable for vacation, budget-friendly (of course), and perfect for everyday.
Over the next few Fashion Fridays I’ll share some of the things I have my eye on. Today I’m focused on a date night outfit since it’s been too long.
Despite my very unmanicured and cold toes I am thinking about how lovely it will feel to throw on a pair of flip flops to go to the bus stop or run a quick errand. Of course they are perfect for date night too.
I love to pick up multiple pairs of flip flops since inevitably I end up wearing them out or getting them filthy. I like to get cheap pairs for throwing on and off, usually from Old Navy or Target. I spotted these gems and thought they would make a great pair for date night, or a girl’s night out with a flowy maxi dress.
I kind of love this dress from Target though I know it won’t look good on my body type.
I haven’t adopted maxi dresses yet, but think they would be great for our vacation in Florida. I have less than perfect legs after having 4 kids and finding a dress that’s the right length to cover what I don’t want to show off is always a challenge for my somewhat tall frame. This dress from Old Navy is a great way to introduce myself to the trend without spending a fortune.
I wouldn’t be me if I wasn’t carrying a cardigan for those air conditioned restaurants and shops we’ll be visiting. I love the way this kimono cardigan would give a totally different look to the whole outfit. I’d probably pick a brighter color though, black is just so not spring.
This caridgan is the right color, and it does it’s job of keeping you warm without sacrificing your silhouette.
What outfit wouldn’t be complete without some jewelry? With a simple spring or summer dress I think the bling can really make the dress go from casual to chic.
I love these multi-metals bangles from Banana Republic. They’re both fun, and somewhat classic and you could wear them as a set or separately for understated glam.
I also love the sparkle factor with this bangle bracelet. So fun!
I’m also kind of crazy in love with this necklace and the color variations in it. I also love the way this kind of necklace lays when you have so much bare neck exposed.
Of course on date night you need a great bag. I love using bags to add color to my wardrobe that isn’t suited to my skin tone. Yellow is one of the colors I love that I don’t really wear. I saw a huge selection of adorable clutches at Target. I like this one because it’s yellow and sunny, and a little nod to the little yellow polka dot bikini of summer that I won’t ever be wearing again. 😉
Altogether the dress, bling, clutch, shoes and cardi are around $100! I think that’s a great deal for pieces you can wear in so many different ways.
Have you found any great spring date night finds? Are you shopping spring clothes yet? Would love to hear about any deals you scored!
