It’s Sunday again, and time for another round up of things to read and some centsible deals. Sundays are my favorite day to catch up on reading, get a jump on the work week, and wrap up the million and one household chores I have to do. Hope you have an amazing Sunday!
Sunday Reads
Do you spend time on your computer after it’s dark out? f.lux is free software that dims the blue light from your device that may keep you up at night. It’s designed to be adjusted to what suits you and your time zone. You can also temporarily disable it as needed. I’ve been using it for a few days and I’ve noticed a significant difference in how I feel when I’m using the computer at night.
I have mentioned before that I’m working with Food for Sleep, a beverage that’s made from food ingredients that help you sleep. I recently wrote a blog post on the importance of having your own bedtime routine. I know I’m a stickler about it for my kids, so I’ve been making an effort to use these tips (gleaned from research for my client) and it’s made a big impact in not only how quickly I fall asleep, but also the quality of my sleep.

In a recent article from Loans101 I was quoted for a piece called, “How Your Home’s Location Can Save You Money.” In the piece I recommended checking into homeowner’s association fees and taxes before you buy since these two items can really add up. In our experience while our HOA fee was somewhat high in the end it covered a new roof for our previous home so it was well worth it. Adding in the costs it covered for things like landscaping, exterior maintenance, trash and recycling, sewer, etc. and we ended up getting way more for our money than we expected. When shopping for our current home we weighed a lot of issues, and found that newer homes in our area had double or triple the taxes, so buying an older home is saving us thousands each year (which goes into renovating it).
Amy (MomAdvice) has been doing this series each week that I love! She shares ‘3 little things’ that make her happy/help her out. I love these posts, and this week’s was especially useful including her hair color helper, help for a hairy ‘friend’, and how to survive yard work. You’ll probably want to go back through and read the rest of these posts, too.
