Swimsuits Through The Ages With Modcloth

Swimsuit season is here. For some of us that evokes a hearty WOOHOO, while others may feel like OH NO. I admit that in the past while I’ve been excited about beach and pool time I’ve been less than thrilled about getting into a swimsuit. I’ve shared before that I struggled with my weight over the last few years due to medications, depression, and some pretty poor eating habits (after dinner snacks anyone?). While I’ve been able to turn that around I’m not quite done yet. I have another 10-15 pounds to shave off and a lot of fitness to gain. So, finding a swimsuit seemed like a daunting task. I needed something that was fun, looked good, and I decided to go for it with a two-piece. Now I’m a mom of 4 which means I have all the stretch marks, but I knew with today’s styles leaning towards classic I could find a two piece that covered up what I need it to while still being playful.

Enter Modcloth. I’ve heard many friends extol the virtues of Modcloth clothes from their fun dresses with vintage styling to nerdy gear there is a lot to choose from. Then I saw the Beach Blanket Bingo Two-Piece and knew I had to have it! It comes in several colors including red and white, white and black, green and white, and black and white. After some mulling and help from Facebook friends I went with the black and white bikini.

I’m SO glad I read the reviews and got a size up-it fits perfectly and I love, love, love it. I’ve not been able to wear it swimming yet, but the coverage it offers is great, so I’m excited to try it out while playing a mean game of sharks and minnows.

What I love about Modcloth is that they make clothes for all women-no matter your weight, height, or body shape they’re sure to have something you’ll love. Join in at the ‘pool party’ at Modcloth. With so many bikinis and one pieces to pick from, you’re bound to find a standout look that suits your style.

And while you’re at it, check out ModCloth’s exploration of so-called “ideal” beach bodies in their new Swim-fographic. It’s an intriguing look at how arbitrarily beauty standards have changed over time. Of course, ModCloth knows that every body is a beach body — the only requirements are a beach, your bod, and a swimsuit you can’t wait to flaunt. Or as my friend Robin says about having a bikini body:

Step 1: Buy a bikini.
Step 2: Wear it.

2 steps to a bikini body: 1) Buy a bikini, 2) Wear it.
